Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world's premier watch auctioneer, is pleased to present its' May 13th auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces, Featuring the 40th Anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak" to be held at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva. Highlighting the sale is a unique Patek Philippe perpetual calendar tourbillon pocket watch, Ref. 953 as well as an extraordinary collection of Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak. Worldwide previews will be held in New York, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Geneva.

 

Patek Philippe Ref. 953 perpetual calendar tourbillon pocket watchThe highlight of the sale is the unique calendar tourbillon pocket watch. This magnificent and historic timepiece is a yellow gold, keyless, ultra high-precision lever chronometer deck watch with one-minute tourbillon, Guillaume balance, special balance bridge, perpetual calendar, 24-hour indication and moon phases.

Estimate: Sfr 300,000 - 500,000


Patek Philippe collectors will also want to bid on the Patek Philippe, Ref. 2523 HU (Heures Universelles) "World Time" with guilloche gold center, made in 1953. Offered at auction for the first time and from the property of the family of the original owner, this is an extremely rare, "World Time", 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with two crowns and guilloche dial. It is accompanied by the Extract from the Archives and a Patek Philippe overhaul dated May 2011.

Estimate: Sfr 500,000 - 700,000


Another highlight of the sale is the Magnificent Chinese Peony Flower Grande Sonnerie Clockwatch with Trip Repeating. Made circa 1820, it is an exceptionally rare, very large, three-train, 18K gold, painted and champlevé enamel, pearl-set, "quarters first" Grande Sonnerie striking clockwatch with trip quarter-repeating.

Estimate: Sfr 120,000 - 220,000


Audemars Piguet collectors will be thrilled by the exceptional collection of 50 Royal Oaks offered in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak including the following highlights:

 

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo "A Series" , No. 88.; Produced in 1972, this example is a rare and octagonal, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with date and a stainless steel Audemars Piguet bracelet. Collectors will be interested to note that The Royal Oak A series is the earliest serial number ever to be offered at auction.

Estimate: Sfr 15,000 - 20,000

 


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Skeleton. This fine skeletonized watch, produced in 1991, is a rare, water-resistant, tonneau shaped , 18K yellow gold self-winding wristwatch with 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet bracelet accompanied by the original warranty, instruction booklet and fitted box, and an Audemars Piguet Certificate of Origin.

Estimate: Sfr 20,000 - 30,000.


Audemars Piguet , Grand Complication, Piece Unique No. 1/1, 18K White Gold and Diamond. Produced as a unique piece in 1994, this extraordinary timepiece is a large minute-repeating , water-resistant, self-winding, 18K white gold and diamond set wristwatch with co-axial round button split-seconds chorongraph, register, perpetual calendar with indication of the weeks, moon phases, and an integrated 18K white gold and full diamond -set Audemars Piguet link bracelet. It is accompanied by an Audemars Piguet Certificate of Origin.

Estimate: Sfr 600,000 - 1,000,000.


Antiquorum experts are also proud to offer a Patek Philippe Ref. 2526 with an exceptional original condition black luminous dial, retailed by Serpico Y Laino, Caracas. Made in 1954, this example is a very fine and extremely rare, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

Estimate: Sfr 60,000 - 90,000.


Also for the Patek Philippe collector, there is a Patek Philippe, Ref. 715/5, watch with unique enamel miniature portrait of General Lafayette as Lieutenant General of 1791 by J. Pellarin -Leroy. The movement for this exceptional watch was made in 1962, encased in 1974 and sold on December 20th, 1974. It is an extremely fine and unique, 18K yellow gold, keyless dress watch accompanied by the original Patek Philippe fitted box and Certificate of Origin, original retailer's sales receipt of January 31st, 1975, Patek Philippe valuation correspondence from 1979-2001 and the Extract from the Archives.

Estimate: Sfr 50,000 - 80,000.

 

The Vacheron enthusiast will want to bid on the Vacheron & Constantin dress watch, with enamel by Charles Poluzzi. Produced circa 1960, this watch is a unique, 18K yellow gold and painted on enamel keyless dress watch accompanied by the original fitted box.

Estimate: Sfr 10,000 - 20,000.
