Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world's premier watch auctioneer, is enthusiastically anticipating its April 25th auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces, Part 1" at their US headquarters on Madison Avenue in New York City. Part one of our spring auction will offer collectors an exceptional collection of Patek Philippe wristwatches including a Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 in platinum as well as a Patek Philippe Ref. 5013 in yellow gold. Prior to the auction, previews will be held in cities throughout the world including in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Taipei.

The highlight of the sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 in platinum. Property of a focused long-term collector, this watch has been fastidiously well maintained and looked after. Made in 1992, it is an extremely rare, astronomic, minute repeating, self-winding, platinum wristwatch with perpetual calendar, leap year indication and moon phases. This exceptional timepiece is stamped with the hallmark of the renowned case maker, Jean-Pierre Hagmann and is accompanied by the original Patek Philippe mahogany fitted box, spare platinum case back, Certificate of Origin, setting pin, booklets and the Extract from the Archives.

Estimate:· $600,000 - $ 800,000

 

Antiquorum experts are also pleased to present the Patek Philippe Ref. 5013 in yellow gold. Production of this reference started in 1992. This is an important, tonneau-shaped, minute-repeating, astronomic, self-winding, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with retrograde perpetual calendar, moon phases, and leap year indication. It is accompanied by the original mahogany box, Certificate of Origin, Extract from the Archives, setting pin, instruction booklet, gloves, loupe and cloth.

Estimate: $ 300,000 - $400,000.

 

Another exceptional Patek Philippe included in the April sale is thePatek Philippe Ref. 2438. Made circa 1958, this is an extremely fine and rare, astronomic, center seconds, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with perpetual calendar and moon phases.

Estimate: $ 200,000 - $ 300,000

 

Also offered is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5101 "Ten Day Tourbillon" in pink gold. Made in 2010 and offered at auction for the first time, it is a rectangular and curved, Art Deco style chronometer wristwatch with one-minute tourbillon regulator and tandem mainspring barrels for 10-day power-reserve. The exquisite watch is accompanied by the Certificate of Origin, chronometer rating certificate, instructions in a leather folder and the original wood fitted box.

Estimate: $200,000 - $ 300,000

 

Not to be missed is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5050 with Roman dial in white gold. Produced in 2004, this is the first example of reference 5050 in white gold with detachable bracelet, confirmed on the Certificate of Origin, to appear at auction. This reference is a rare, astronomic, center seconds, self-winding, water resistant, 18K white gold wristwatch with perpetual calendar, retrograde date, leap year indication, moon phases. It is also accompanied by a fitted box, setting pin, booklets and Certificate of Origin.

Estimate: $ 80,000 - $120,000.

 

Also offered in the April auction is the Patek Philippe Ref. 1579in pink gold. This fine example, made circa 1951, is a very rare, 18K pink gold wristwatch with square button chronograph, register and pulsometer. It is accompanied by a fitted box and the Extract from the Archives.

Estimate: $ 75,000 - $ 100,000

 

For the Rolex aficionado, Antiquorum experts are pleased to offer the Rolex Ref. 6263, "Oyster, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, Cosmograph." This water-resistant, 14K yellow gold chronometer wristwatch, produced in 1975, features a round button chronograph, registers, gold bezel with tachometer and a 14K yellow gold Rolex Jubilee bracelet.

Estimate: $ 40,000 - $ 60,000

 

Fans of Audemars Piguet will want to bid on the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Quantième Perpétuel Automatique, No. 010. Made in the 1990s, it is a very fine, astronomic, self-winding, platinum wristwatch with mother of pearl dial, perpetual calendar, phases and age of the moon.

Estimate: $ 30,000 - $ 40,000.

 

Also included in the sale is a magnificent Leroy & Fils perpetual calendar shelf clock. Made circa 1880, this is an extremely fine, impressive and rare, gilt-brass and enamel, 8-day going pendulum shelf clock with perpetual calendar, moon phases, hour and half-hour striking and visible anchor escapement with independent seconds.

Estimate: $ 15,000 - $ 25,000.

 

Cartier and Jaeger LeCoultre collectors alike will be enticed by the Cartier by Lecoultre steel Day & Date , Cartier Ref. 9696. Made in the 1940's by LeCoultre, it is a very fine and very rare, rectangular, stainless steel wristwatch with day and date.

Estimate: $ 10,000 - $ 15,000.

 

For the pocket watch lover, there is the Patek Philippe unique platinum and yellow engraved pocket watch retailed by Tiffany & Co., made circa 1929. From the family of the original owner, this unique 18K yellow gold keyless dress pocket watch was gifted to Captain Purcell by one of his students featuring an engraving of the exact plane they used during their flight instruction. It is accompanied by the inaugural issue of National Glider, in which Captain Purcell wrote an article detailing his experience with the student and the custom pocket watch he received as a gift.
