As he stands at the threshold of the seventh decade of his music career with more than one hundred albums under his belt and 15 Grammy Awards (including one in recognition of his career), there is no doubt that Tony Bennett has well earned his status as a legendary figure. He is the longest-standing artist at Columbia Records, and in 2007 his television special Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic won seven Emmy Awards. At age 85, he is one of the last great crooners of the mid 20th century, and he is still performing. Remembered for hits such as “Blue Velvet” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”, the base of his repertoire is made up of standards and classic popular music tunes, most of which can be classified as ballads and jazz.
